Mixology Monday: Blog Love

I often get ideas and inspiration for new drinks from other cocktail blogs. Since the topic this month is blog love, I thought I'd share some of the things I've discovered and enjoyed out there in the blogscape.

A while back I was looking for some background on The Bramble. A quick shout out to the thinking bartender resulted in an excellent post with all the details.

Just last week I was looking for a new drink to sell at the bar and finally agreed to try Jeffrey's Richmond Gimlet. I tried it and I told him it was OK. (Don't tell him, but that's actually not a bad drink after all. I just don't want it to go to his head.) I love all the recipes that are being posted, and I use them all the time.

Two more great resources that have come from cocktail blogs are Darcy's Jerry Thomas and Slakethirst's Ideal Bartender.

I'd have to say my favorite part of all the blogs, are the pictures. I've seen good ones, and bad ones, and some that stand above them all. Rick the Kaiser Penguin blows me away every time he posts a picture. He's actually hosting a photo contest right now, and offering photo making tips as well as fabulous prizes! (I like Rick's photos so much, I stole this one. It's copyright 2006 Kaiser Penguin so don't you steal it too.)

Drinkboy Robert Hess and the Small Screen Network are taking Internet videos to a new level. The production values are top-notch, and I think if Robert decides to quit his day job, he'll have a great career as a TV presenter.

Mixology Monday is one of the best things to happen to cocktail blogging. I think it keeps a lot of the blogs alive, and helps to develop the community. I know Mixology Monday got me going and keeps me posting. It is also a great way to discover new blogs.

So thanks to all the other bloggers out there for providing such great education and entertainment for the rest of us. I can't mention everyone, but I read all your blogs and anxiously await every new posting. Many thanks also to Paul and The Cocktail Chronicles for organizing Mixology Monday.
Paul is also hosting this months wrap-up, so make sure to check back with The Cocktail Chronicles for the details.

If you do put the RG on the menu, it would be an interesting experiment to compare demand between calling the Richmond Gimlet and the Gin Mojito.

that would be interesting. I think the gin would throw people off though. A lot of people seem to be scared of gin.
